Below is a picture of the MIXX software that we used to record our radio show live. The MIXX software allows us to alter the volume in audio clips, so we can increase or decrease it, we could also fade into different clips as there are two sections to play a clip and they can be played simultaneously and it has a lot of other features too.



Below are a few pictures of the equipment we used and some of us using the equipment as you can see Alex is using the MIXX software with the sound clips he had prepared and also Sam using the Microphone for his segment in the show.







Above is two picture of the equipment that we used, as you can see we all had a seat around the table with the equipment on it, each person who spoke had a script in front of them and each of them knew how long they were supposed to speak for so we could fit everything else in and not go too much overtime. Everyone had a set of headphones on which they could hear everything that was being recorded, the deck and MIXX software was used by Alex to change the volume and speed of sound clips or someone speaking if it wasn't clear enough, for example if the jingle was too quiet he could make the volume louder for it. 

We set the chairs up like this because it meant that we did not have wires in the way of the chairs, as you can see the chairs are all on the left hand side or behind the table and that is because thew wires are to the right off screen and we did that because it meant that none of us could get injured by falling over the wires or anything else that could happen, it also meant that there was a lot of space for people to maneuver around in if they needed to get to the mic to record their segment for example. . We set the equipment like it is shown so it could all be in one place so we wouldn't have to keep moving around to each piece of equipment and it was better for us to all be around the equipment especially when wearing the headphones because if another piece of equipment was far away it could damage the headphone wire and it would also be easy for someone to injure themselves if the wire was in the way. Another reason that we had everything around one set of connected tables is so that everyone could clearly see what was going on and see if anything needed changing.

Above is all the script that were needed for the show, one of them is our main one which was used by the presenter, one of them was for the weather report with a twist and that was used by our news reader and the other one was for our music section report and that was used by our broadcast journalist.

Running Order


Below is also our running order which includes how long each short segment should last within the show however we did go overtime by 2 mins 3 secs but I guess people spoke a bit slower than they did during their practise to see how long it would last. Our main topics 1 was all about avengers: infinity war and god of war which was done by our presenter, however instead of having a guest call in we had an interview done with a comic book store owner who was Ventus's friend to replace it. We also changed our news section because we felt that our target audience wouldn't be bothered about the old boring weather and traffic so we did a forecast of upcoming films, TV shows and games. Our music topic was a section where our broadcast journalist Sam talked about Reading festival and our outro was a small clip from a song.

Using the BBC guidelines we made sure that we were in a safe working area and that we were being safe by making sure that there was no wires on the floor that could be damaged, had no liquids near the equipment and also nothing blocking people if they were to walk past this could stop them bumping into us and possibly damaging the equipment, we also used the correct posture which was sitting upright. We also did checks ever so often to see if the working space was safe to work in, for example we had to check if any of the wires had moved or if the equipment wasn't working anymore.

My job role was the assistant producer (News) - Gathers, collects and schedules the new and helps make sound design. I worked with the other member of the news team to get an interview and worked with the producer to get some documents done, some documents were also done with other members of the team. I did research on topics that I thought would be relevant to our show and more specifically our target audience which was teenagers so popular TV shows, events, Films and Games were all researched but out main three ended up being Reading Festival, Infinity War and God of War. The main documents I took part in doing was the production schedule and the budget.

I did everything at the right time because at certain points some thing were a bigger priority over others for example the news team contacted someone to interview before we started recording anything and we arranged a time to do the interview and then we had to record it before we went live as it would have been much easier to have it pre-recorded. So everything was done in the correct order and that order was given by the producer who told us what parts need to be done when and this was discussed in our meetings.

  3. D discuss how you followed professional practice...look back at p1 where you ordered the planning, pre-production-production and post production tasks...did you follow this?
